OPEN FOR HOCKEY?

This is interesting: Rudy Giuliani may help form a new hockey league called the "International Hockey Association", should the NHL lockout continue (which it appears it will, since the guys involved are complete assholes).

Anything would be better than what's going on now. Does anyone know if a new league could poach NHL players, or if these players are still required to be loyal to their back-stabbing owners and respect their contracts? This also brings up the important question - why doesn't any of the companies that I work for have a lock-out? Damn, I would love that; one day you show up and they won't let you in...

Well, unfortunately this has a USFL kind of vibe to it. Which begs the question: how come Vince McMahon hasn't started an "XHL"? He can get Marty McSorley and Tie Domi to be VPs. They could revamp the game scoring, awarding 2 points for a goal, 3 points for a breakaway, 1 point for winning a fight--it would be a huge hit! But seriously, I think the NHLPA will not free any of its players as long as they're still negotiating a new CBA. I can't believe I have to use all these acronyms just to talk about this. This is why I'm beginning to despise all pro sports. Just shut up and skate! Use the boards, and cover the point, dammit!
